Gawkk makes it easy to find great videos from around the web by incorporating millions of videos from thousands of video sources, all in one place.
How is Gawkk different than voting sites like Digg and Reddit?
Gawkk is all about the videos that your friends and the specific people you follow find interesting. Rather than show you the content that all of the members of Digg and Reddit think is interesting, Gawkk narrows the sharing and conversation down to the specific videos that your friends and the people you follow think are interesting, right now.
Why is Gawkk like a "Twitter for videos"?
Gawkk is like a "Twitter for videos" because it allows you to easily broadcast out to your friends and followers the great videos that you find anywhere on the web. Gawkk is specifically optimized for videos and allows you to easily discover, share and discuss videos from around the web with your friends and followers by answering one simple question: What are you watching?
While sites like 12seconds.tv and seesmic.com allow you to broadcast short-form video to your friends and followers, these sites are more like a "video Twitter" in that they work like Twitter but use video as the communication medium. It may sound subtle, but Gawkk is different from these sites in that we allow people to "tweet about videos" rather than sending "video tweets." See the difference?
How is Gawkk different than Twitter?
Twitter is great for finding out what your friends are doing, and while you can share a link to a video through Twitter or even through email, you need to click each link to even know what has been shared with you. Sometimes that experience is hard to follow and really isn't all that entertaining.
Gawkk, on the other hand, is so focused on video entertainment that we provide a thumbnail image and the embedded video directly within your activity stream so you can quickly decide what to watch, and even watch it right here on Gawkk. The conversation with your friends and followers is threaded and shown right beneath the embedded video, making it easy to follow the discussion.
Gawkk also jump starts the conversation by incorporating millions of videos from thousands of media sources across the Internet, making it easy to discover and discuss the latest videos from around the web with your friends and followers, right now.
How is Gawkk different than other social networks like Facebook and MySpace?
Gawkk is all about discovering and sharing video with people of similar interests, so you might find that you have a different social graph of friends and followers on Gawkk than on other social networking sites. Also, Gawkk doesn't require that you approve friendships, so anyone can follow anyone else on the site, which leads to a wider sharing of content across the network and a greater chance of discovering great videos.
